Thanks to you, we made critical services possible this year for thousands of men, women, and children. We are reflecting on how God worked through Vessels of Mercy International during an unprecedented season. Who would have thought in the middle of a pandemic that we would have the opportunity to grow and do so much ministry and begin several new partnerships? Being a relief organization, we were positioned to respond to this global pandemic here in our local area, but we serve in all fifteen countries. It was a year we could never have anticipated in the natural, but God saw it coming. Not only did He show up, but He also showed off.
Unfortunately, many churches and organizations all across the nation were forced to close their doors. Still, Vessels of Mercy International never closed its doors, and God used this season to do more ministry than ever before. Yes, there were lots of precautions, lots of changes…but because of your faithfulness, everyone remained in the service of King Jesus!
I know that this may sound crazy, but looking back, there is so much to be thankful for in 2020. We were reminded often of the scripture in Ezekiel 34:26 “I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessings.” There were days it was more like a deluge, and we rejoiced!
Here are just a few highlights of 2020: Locally 2000 gallons of water delivered to the homeless in Richmond, Virginia area (RVA) 5000 masks delivered to nursing homes, medical offices, and the homeless in RVA 41,000 people served food and groceries (homeless, impoverished seniors, families living in hotels in RVA) 100 Veterans served through our Operation Homefront project 56 children living in hotels received backpacks filled with school supplies 7 children freed from human trafficking and now in an aftercare program Disaster relief provided after Hurricane Laura struck Louisiana in partnership with Christ in Action
Globally Over 5000 people were provided soap, disinfectant, buckets, food, masks in Liberia, Kenya, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, India, Romania, Haiti, and Cambodia. Emergency aid, food, water, and 300 sustainable hygiene kits provided after the Beirut blast in Lebanon Disaster relief, food provisions, tarps for shelter for survivors of Hurricane Eta and Iota in Honduras
You’ve been with us as we have delivered Hope and shared the good news of Jesus to so many. We remain committed to serving those in need here in our local area and on our international fields. This year, your partnership has made all the difference for lost and hurting people here at home and around the world. God has truly used you to do the impossible! He has used you to share His love, hope, and healing in amazing ways. We now look forward to 2021 with great expectation and hope, for we stand firmly on His word. We will continue to run this race and carry His torch, His light to the world! “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) From all of us at Vessels of Mercy International, Happy New Year! We can’t wait to see what opportunities God will bring to us and what we can accomplish together for His Kingdom!
*For all travel in 2021, we are closely monitoring COVID-19 and the requirements for travel to each country we serve. We will seek the Lord’s wisdom and direction in all that we do, knowing that He is in control of every detail, and He will lead the way
