Take the First Step
God is using short-term mission experiences to deepen the commitment to world evangelization and ignite the love of God in new ways in the hearts of old and young people alike. While serving in other cultures, the short-term missionary sees first-hand some of the lostness of the world’s peoples and some of the hurts and needs in other cultures. As a result, many return home with a new sense of God, a new commitment to participate personally in world evangelization, and a new fire burning to make lives count for God!
The fire continues to burn for many short-term workers. Some go on to become career missionaries. Others become significantly involved in the on-going missions thrust of their church, where God can use their experiences as ‘sparks’ to ignite others with a commitment to world evangelization.
Count Von Zinzendorf, the co-founder of the Moravian missionary movement, said, “The more intensely the fire of God burns in the heart, the more surely it will burn into those around us.” We believe as you personally seek to keep the fire burning in your life, you will, in turn, ignite others, and the flame of world evangelization will burn bright.
